Why Does My Youtube Video Say No Views
Real Reason Why You get No Views on YouTube
It'll be a short entry, but you won't like the answer.
Many "how to" sites tell you how you can get more views and subscribers, but all that information won't help you at all. These are the real reasons why you don't get views.
You Add NO Value to the Community
People complain that YouTube has no mechanism to find small channels, but that's not the reason why your < 50 subscriber channel is getting no views. The real reason: You have nothing people want to see.
If you are a vlogger or gamer, you are competing with literally thousands of new videos every day. Unless you are someone established, there's absolutely no reason why someone would watch your video. The problem is that vlogging and gaming videos are so ubiquitous, they appear as white-noise to viewers. Simply having the caption "vlog", "lets play" or "Minecraft" is enough to cause people to skip over your video.
Your Content is Already Provided by Someone Else
Looking for a spaghetti recipe, do a YouTube search. Not only are there literally 1 million other spaghetti recipes, the majority of the views are consumed by a small percentage of videos. There's no reason to view other recipes because you can get what you need from a tried-and-tested video.
The unfortunate truth is, for certain niches, until you have the subscriber count to overthrow an established video, viewers will always choose an established video over yours -period.
You Don't Know How to Share
YouTube strongly discourages spam like comments like:
and that's not sharing! That's just you spamming your content to people who don't care. Sharing is not about posting content on Facebook/forums/message boards to people who don't care about your videos. Sharing requires interaction. It requires you to be a valued member of a community so that when you do share a video, people of that community actually take time to view it.
It's Not About Being Found
People often say: all they need is a initial boost of views to "be found". This is not true. Some channels occasionally get lucky with a viral video, but that's not going to generate subscribers. If you look at the top trending videos and the view counts for that channel's other videos, more often than not, you will see their videos have low view counts (aside from their single viral video). Even if people are directed to your channel, if you don't have the content to get people interested, they won't take the time to watch your views.
Remember, the adage: If You Build It, They Will Come is not true for YouTube. It doesn't matter if your video quality is good, what matters the most is the value of your content. The key thing to remember is that, views isn't what counts -audience retention is the key.
In my next article, I'll explain what I think is the best way to grow your channel.
